On Sunday (Aug. 17), Jakarta’s National Monument (Monas) area was transformed into a bustling food festival by hundreds of small business vendors as part of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. Organized by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, these vendors offered a diverse selection of free meals to the public, enhancing the patriotic atmosphere of the national holiday. Capturing the essence of the event, the ministry shared a video on their official Instagram account, @kementerianumkm, emphasizing the role of sharing in not only providing delicious food but also boosting the small business economy. The festive mood was palpable as visitors from all walks of life joyfully indulged in the various dishes offered at the event. One visitor expressed their excitement at trying pempek and a rice box, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere with numerous food stalls to explore. Gratitude was also expressed towards President Prabowo for the meaningful and enjoyable event. The participation of numerous small businesses exemplified the government’s dedication to making Independence Day more than just a ceremonial occasion, but also an opportunity to stimulate the local economy.
