Indonesia’s Aid to Gaza on Nation’s 80th Independence Day

The Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force successfully conducted a humanitarian aid mission to the Gaza Strip, Palestine, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence. This mission was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Alms Agency (Baznas). Two Indonesian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft took off from King Abdullah II Air Base in Amman, Jordan, at 10:37 a.m. local time and dropped aid supplies over Gaza before returning safely to the forward operating base at 12:25 p.m. local time. Colonel Pilot Puguh Yulianto, Commander of the Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force, stated that the mission went smoothly without significant obstacles. The aid packages consisted of essential supplies for Gaza residents, including staple foods, ready-to-eat meals, medical equipment, blankets, and items specifically for children. President Prabowo Subianto directly ordered this mission as part of Indonesia’s ongoing commitment to international humanitarian solidarity. The success of this mission on Indonesia’s independence anniversary was celebrated as a moment of national pride, highlighting Indonesia’s active role on the global stage and its contributions to global peace. Colonel Yulianto described this achievement as a historic milestone and a special gift for Indonesia’s Independence Day.
