Enhancing Indonesia-France Relations: Macron-Prabowo Meeting

French President Emmanuel Macron recently paid a visit to Indonesia, underscoring the deep and meaningful partnership between the two nations. Macron affirmed that the friendship between Indonesia and France transcends mere symbolism, representing a tangible and robust collaboration. His visit was graciously hosted by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

During the visit, Macron conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He stressed the significance of collaboration across various sectors, including the economy, technology, security, and culture.

The diplomatic ties between Indonesia and France have spanned 75 years, witnessing substantial advancements over the past decade. Macron commended Indonesia for its role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and lauded the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives.

Cultural exchange was also a focal point for Macron, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the burgeoning friendship between the two countries. Macron extended his appreciation to President Prabowo for the warm reception and expressed optimism for ongoing collaborative endeavors during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
