Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Defense, presented five NC-212i aircraft manufactured by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to the Indonesian Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/12).
During the handover ceremony, Prabowo praised the capabilities of the NC-212i as a domestic defense equipment, stating that it is capable of conducting various tasks such as aerial photography, aerial navigation, and weather modification or artificial rain.
He also expressed his pride in PTDI and expressed his hope that the domestic defense industry will continue to enhance its capabilities until it is able to independently produce combat defense equipment.
Prabowo emphasized the importance of a strong air force for Indonesia, highlighting the necessity for a modern sovereign country to have a strong military that can work in joint operations of the three forces and function as a modern unified part.
The handover of the light transport aircraft was symbolically marked by Prabowo handing over the keys to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force (Wakasau) Air Marshal A. Gustaf Brugman. The five NC-212i aircraft are set to strengthen the 4th Air Squadron, 2nd Air Wing at Abdulrachman Saleh Airbase in Malang, East Java.
