The proposed 2026 state budget, amounting to Rp 757.8 trillion, marks the largest allocation for education in the country’s history. Prabowo highlighted education as a crucial tool for fostering globally competitive human resources and eradicating poverty. He also outlined the government’s priorities, including enhancing teacher quality, bolstering vocational training, and aligning curricula with the needs of the labor market. The budget breakdown includes funding for various education programs, scholarships, and facilities upgrades. Prabowo also committed to enhancing People’s Schools and Garuda Excellence Schools to provide quality education for disadvantaged children. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of advancing Indonesia’s capabilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through initiatives like the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarships, the government aims to nurture a generation prepared to excel on the global stage.
