Indonesian Military Shines at Bastille Day Parade, Earns Global Praise

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) made history on Monday morning by leading France’s prestigious Bastille Day military parade along the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris. This marked a significant moment in the history of Indonesia–France diplomatic relations as TNI troops were honored as the lead contingent in the annual military procession, commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. A total of 260 TNI soldiers, along with 189 members of the combined military marching band, delivered a precise, spirited, and vibrant performance. Dressed in ceremonial uniforms adorned with helmets featuring symbols representing Indonesia’s armed service branches, the troops received enthusiastic applause from thousands of spectators including French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah. International media outlets, such as BFMTV, TV5 Monde, Ouest France, and L’Union, highlighted Indonesia’s honored role in the parade, with features and video clips showcasing the vibrant Indonesian drumline in action. With over 450 Indonesian troops participating in the parade, Indonesia’s guest of honor status was seen as a symbol of the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly within the Indo-Pacific framework. This recognition of Indonesia’s growing presence on the international stage was praised by the TOURISMER Association representative.
