President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia expressed his excitement about Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s proposal to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This statement came after a productive bilateral meeting between the two leaders at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília. Prabowo warmly welcomed the plan, emphasizing the potential for accelerating cooperation between the two nations, particularly in trade and investment. The President highlighted the common interests and vast potential for economic relations between Indonesia and Brazil, both large countries with significant populations and abundant natural resources. He acknowledged that previous cooperation agreements often remained as mere documents and expressed a desire to foster genuine and beneficial partnerships.
Prabowo also commended Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s eagerness to learn from Brazil’s experiences. He praised Brazil’s leadership in biofuels and agricultural innovations, citing the potential for Indonesia to benefit greatly from such knowledge. Furthermore, he appreciated President Lula’s support for Indonesia’s initiative to send more technical teams to study Brazil’s innovations and agricultural technologies.
Aside from his visit to Brasília, President Prabowo attended the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro during his time in Brazil. President Lula is set to visit Indonesia in October, and Prabowo mentioned plans for a special celebration in Jakarta to mark Lula’s 80th birthday. The upcoming visit and continued collaboration between Indonesia and Brazil signify a promising era of partnership and exchange between the two nations.
