Ministerial Summit on Sritex Worker Reemployment

A group of ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to address the plight of PT Sritex employees who were recently laid off. The key focus of the meeting was on Prabowo’s directive for ministers to find solutions to support the affected workers. The meeting was attended by Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s concern for the wellbeing of the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the challenges faced by PT Sritex following its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new operational setup in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator for their efforts in potentially rehiring former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to providing assistance and guidance is expected to bring relief to the affected PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive appropriate compensation for the layoffs and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is presently in the process of identifying investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new framework, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This strategic move aims to bring stability to the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
